Product 02 — Bumper Switch

Bumper Switch

A contact-sensing safety switch that actuates at approximately 20 N or less, anywhere along the bumper bar. It fits any low-speed or stationary machine that needs human protection, with bar length, brackets and wiring customized to the machine.

Overview Line-type Contact Sensing Safety Switch — ≤ 20 N · Full-length

ANGUK RND bumper switch mounted under a pile-driver machine

BUMPER SWITCH — installed on machine

A switch that detects contact at the machine perimeter and outputs a safety control signal. Unlike point sensors, the line-switch design responds to contact anywhere along the front of the bumper bar — no blind spots — and actuates at approximately 20 N or less, suited to human-protection scenarios in low-speed and stationary operation. The digital ON/OFF output connects directly into an existing safety control loop. In series production for Xpanner — field-proven on real machines.

  • Full-length sensing — detects contact along the entire bumper bar, no blind spots
  • High sensitivity — actuates at approximately 20 N or less
  • Simple interface — digital ON/OFF output wired straight into the safety loop
  • Customizable to specification — bar length, brackets and wiring built to the machine (see customization below)

Applications

Where it fits

Anywhere people and machines share the same space. Bar length and mounting structure are built to the machine's perimeter geometry.

Construction & special machinery

Pile drivers and other low-speed working machines — perimeter contact detection tied into an emergency stop where workers operate close by.

E-stop integration Low-speed machines

AGVs · AMRs

Contact-sensing bumpers for autonomous logistics robots — full-length line-switch sensing maps directly onto collision-safety requirements.

Contact bumper No blind spots

Industrial vehicles · heavy equipment

Forklifts and yard vehicles — rear and side contact detection for pedestrian protection and reduced facility collision damage.

Pedestrian protection Rear & side sensing

Automated systems · gates

Anti-pinch protection on automatic doors, moving equipment and lifts — actuation at approximately 20 N or less meets human-protection sensing needs.

Anti-pinch Sensitivity ≤ 20 N

Reference

Key customer & application — Xpanner

In series production for Xpanner's pile-driver machines — mounted along the lower perimeter, detecting contact within the working radius and feeding the safety control loop.

  • Series production — supplied with bar, brackets and wiring configured to the machine
  • Machine-specific build — mounting structure designed to the machine's perimeter geometry
  • Human protection — worker contact detection in low-speed and stationary operation

Customization

Customized to your specification

A bumper switch is by nature built to the machine. Design and fabrication are done in house, so we respond quickly to machine-specific requirements.

Sensing

Bumper bar length and sensing sections configured to the machine's perimeter dimensions, with required actuation-force conditions reviewed and applied.

Output & wiring

Wiring scheme for the digital ON/OFF output, harness length and connector type built to the machine's safety control loop.

Mechanical & mounting

Bracket geometry, mounting positions and bar cross-section designed to the machine's shape and operating conditions (outdoor, washdown, impact).

In development — angle sensing

Beyond ON/OFF detection, an angle-sensing bumper switch is in development. If you are evaluating an application, contact us with your requirements.
